Sidi Moussa & oualidia Lagune
Situated on the atlantic between the village of Sidi El Abed (35 km south of El Jadida) and the small town of Oualidia, the site consists of the two lagoons of Sidi Moussa and Oualidia. The site is fed by seawater, both through natural tidal inflow entering the two lagoons and artificially through the pumping of water into the saltpans ,
The lagoons Sidi Moussa-Oualidia wetland is a unique natural ecosystem designated by the Ramsar Convention. the Lagune support beds of marine algae and seagrass. Most of the natural dunal vegetation has been replaced by cultivation, which on the inland side includes market gardening under greenhouses. Other human activities at the site include oyster farming, shellfish harvesting, fishing and tourism, especially in oualidia lagoon.
These Lagoons are an important passage and wintering site for Palearctic migrants on the Atlantic coast flyway. Over 80 species have been recorded, of which 50 are regular.

The Lagoon sidi moussa is surrounded by fields , that based on vegetables plantations ,the region is famous of pompkins and tomatos and corns..,. which is makes the lagoon site perfect for birdwatching ,where sea birds meet with birds of the fields , like redstart , stonechat , serin ,green , gold finches linnet, larks, stone curlew, hoopoe, cisiticolla..., including birds of preys such black winged kite , black kite , little owls ,shrikes..,
The difference in stay facilities between the lagoon oualidia and sidi moussa, is that oualidia Lagoon has much guest houses hotels ,appertements ,different choices that suits your budget as well many choises of restaurants that offer meals mostly sea fruits and moroccan food. as well activities such kayaking or boating in the lagoon.

Sidi Moussa lagoon does have a few choices ,but sidi moussa lagoon and fields surrounded is more perfect for birdwatching as it's wild and not busy like oualidia Lagoon .notice that there is only 22 km of fields between both lagoons.
